SimComm Academy Ltd, established in 2016, is a specialist provider of health and social care simulation. We work with health and social care providers and education organisations, meeting needs through training, placements and exam support. Our delivery is both face to face and online with participants from the following groups: registrants and non-registrants in health and social care organisations, students and trainees in healthcare programmes, professionals in primary, acute and community care, professionals in public and independent sector organisations.

Our team of actor role players travel widely and will work with you and your teams or, when SimComm are facilitating, they will work with us. They take on roles of patients, service users, relatives, carers and health and social care professionals. They are fully trained in both depicting roles and being involved in the debrief, feeding back from their unique perspective, in role in neutral.

SimComm’s facilitating team have backgrounds in healthcare, education and management. We create a safe environment in which participants practise and develop their communication skills in a facilitated, life-like scenario. Participants reflect on the experience, together with the feedback received from their peers and the actors, and take this back to the workplace and apply to their specific communication challenges.

SimComm Academy is one of a very select number of organisations that has been awarded the national Association of Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH) accreditation award. It defines good practice, thereby assuring users that the provider has agreed and met the standards required of a high-quality simulation.

In addition, SimComm Academy is led by Carrie Hamilton, RGN BSc MSc. who is an international innovator in education. Driven by her fellowship research into ‘simulated patients/actor role players’ in the UK, Canada, USA, a scholarship in Australia, and time as a University senior lecturer, her approach is underpinned by extensive clinical and educational experience.
