Simulated People
At our university agency, we specialize in providing simulated people—highly trained actors who play the roles of patients, family members, or other relevant characters in medical scenarios. These simulated individuals are integral to our medical training programs, offering a realistic, interactive environment where students can practice and refine their clinical skills, bedside manners, and decision-making abilities. Our simulated people undergo rigorous training to accurately portray a wide range of medical conditions and emotional states, ensuring that every interaction is as authentic and educational as possible.
What is a Simulated Person?
The role of simulated people in medical education is pivotal. They enable learners to experience real-world medical situations in a controlled, safe setting, allowing for mistakes and learning without the risk of harming actual patients. Through these realistic encounters, learners develop critical thinking and communication skills that are essential for their future roles as healthcare providers. The feedback provided by our simulated people is invaluable, offering insights from the patient's perspective that help trainees understand the impact of their actions and words. This immersive approach to medical education bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, ultimately leading to more competent and empathetic healthcare professionals.

FAQ's
Why do we need simulated patients?
A variety of simulated people are essential to deliver the highest quality training and assessment in a safe learning environment where education is prioritised above care.
Will this be a regular job?
No it won't be a regular job. We are sent simulated event scripts as departments develop training events. These jobs are sent out to our fully trained simulated people who are signed up on our database.
Where will the job be?
Usually our SP jobs are based within CCCU at or Canterbury or Medway campuses. Occasionally SP jobs will come up around Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Do I have to be a trained actor?
No you don't have to be a trained actor or have any acting experience. Just a willingness to be involved and get into the role so that students have the best practice experience.
Will I be paid?
Yes you will be paid via the university, the current rate is £20 per hour but you will not be able to claim for travel or subsistance.
What sort of roles will I be asked to do?
Our roles are extremely varied, recently we have had a middle aged homeless person who is suffering from PTSD, someone who has experienced domestic abuse and a patient who is suffering from a heart attack. None of the roles are compulsory, you always have the right to refuse any role that you are not comfortable about, equally we require that you don’t bring personal agendas into your role. We need a wide range of simulated people in order to fulfill the roles we have. The greater variety of people of all backgrounds, ages etc the better for our students so that our future healthcare staff can better train and learn.
